World Vision to UN: Joint military operation in Eastern DRC puts thousands of children at risk

"As UN humanitarian chief John Holmes visits the war-scarred region of Eastern Congo this week, World Vision reasserted its concern for hundreds of thousands of civilians, especially children, who will suffer more death and displacement as a result of the joint operation by the Rwandan and Congolese Governments against the predominantly Hutu rebel group, the Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR)."

Shocking: Conscience and Cruelty

"In 1961, shortly after Israel put Adolf Eichmann on trial—'the architect of the Holocaust'—Yale psychologist Stanley Milgram began a series of psychological experiments. The goal was to 'test how much pain an ordinary citizen would inflict on another person simply because he was 'ordered to' by an authority figure.'"

Vines and Branches -- a devotion

"Although I now live in northern California – wine country – I have yet to see a vineyard in full growth. My previous visits have been in late autumn or early winter and my arrival for the move here was in late October. The vineyards are barren-looking fields, strung with horizontal wires and interspersed with vertical 'sticks.' If this was the only thing I knew about vineyards, I would think them sad things indeed."
