U2 to Kick Off US Tour in Chicago
"U2 will announce a Sept. 12 date at Soldier Field in Chicago to open the U.S. leg of its world tour.
'That will be announced Monday,' a spokesman for U2’s Principal Management in Dublin said Friday, confirming a report in Billboard. Tickets will range from $30 to $250, according to the report, and will go on sale later this month."

Lots of love goes into these locks: Girl Scout troop donates hair to create wigs
"About a dozen Girl Scouts grew their hair as long as they could to see it get chopped off Friday, but it was all for a good cause.
Local hair stylists pitched in and cut the locks off 12 young ladies from Folsom Girl Scout Troop 1864 at St. John Notre Dame School. The hair will be donated to Locks of Love, which uses it to create wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment or other medical conditions."

Although U2 was not among the nominees, it had the opening slot for the Feb. 19 show: a live performance of the hard-riffing 'Get On Your Boots' from its new album, 'No Line on the Horizon' (Interscope). U2 had blasted the same song earlier in the month at the Grammy Awards."

New library hailed as Mattapan's future
"Ten-year-old Kayla Maloney broke out in a wide smile as she ran her small fingers along the bindings of books stacked in the young adults section of the new Mattapan library. The fifth-grader, a voracious reader who says she often falls asleep with a book on her pillow, stopped every few steps to pull out a novel and look at the cover."
